Plaster's Orchard

After the pumpkin patch turned out to be a little bit of a dud on Saturday, we decided to try running by an apple orchard that's not too far from our town.  I had heard some friends talk about picking apples there, but I didn't really know anything about how it worked or where it was or what it cost!  But we decided to seize the moment and just go.  And I'm so glad we did!  It was a LOT of fun picking apples together, and we got a gigantic bucket full of apples!
What did Elias do with the first apple he picked?  Eat it, of course!
Justin using the apple picker.  I had never been apple picking before, and this little contraption was totally awesome!

Elias was a good picker!

We ended up with 75 apples for $10!  Not too shabby.  They're a mixture of Rome, Red Delicious, and Golden Delicious.  And delicious is right!  YUM!  :)
I've been having a LOT of fun figuring out ways to use all these apples, and I'll do another post soon with all the new apple recipes I've tried!

There's a recipe for crockpot apple butter on Pinterest, I think. :)

Thanks, Jessi! The problem I have with apple butter is that I have to have something bakery-ish to put it on, and I try not to overdo the bakery-type delicacies... As much as I love me some biscuits, my hips don't! I've got a post ready to go up tomorrow with some of the apple recipes I have tried, though, and one of them is from Pinterest! Gotta love that site!
